Sunday 7-13-03 11:09 a.m. SUMMIT FIRE 2 acre blaze behind CT English School 1st 5 photos Alex Leman, last 20 photos Brian Sherin CDF Burrell's engine and Loma Prieta Volunteers made the initial attack with a progressive hoselay around the left flank (the active flank). With the timely and appreciated assistance of the initial tanker drop, they hooked the fire before it crossed the lower maintenance road and spread into the canyon below. Additional units from the Santa Cruz/San Mateo Ranger unit laid the right flank with assistance from Loma Prieta firefighters. Three Ben Lomond hand crews also participated in mop-up. Santa Clara County Fire, Engine 4 was designated water supply and pumped water from the hydrant to Burrell's 1780, the "manifold" engine. CDF had one copter, one tanker and an air attack on scene to provide air support. Illegal fireworks are the suspected, but unconfirmed source of the blaze.
